MissioWiki was begun to create a body of information on LCMS World Mission missionaries. It is hoped that the information supplied with be useful in writing articles, books and treatises about LCMS World Mission missionaries. At some point there may be a biographical dictionary written using the information. The initiative was begun when Dr Bob Scudieri, the chairman of LSFM, challenged the society to begin an effort to conserve the accounts of faith, courage and love that have sent more than 1,000 LCMS missionaries outside of the US to share the love of Christ in word and deed. A task force of Scudieri, Dr. Allan Buckman, Ms Tara Mulder, Prof Won Yong Gi, Rev. Paul Heerboth and representatives of the Concordia Historical Society began to meet in June of 2006 to begin this effort. A list of missionaries who had served overseas has been created and at this point 45 biographies have been written. It is hoped that there will be over 75 biographies on the site by the summer of 2009. Then, interested parties will be encouraged to visit the site - add stories, facts, corrections, pictures, etc, to the biographies already constructed - and begin the same with the bios of the 900 other LCMS missionaries that have not been started. This will take many years to accomplish, but would not have been possible at all without the Wiki feature. Thanks for your participation in this project!
